Daniel Reifsnyder, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Environment with US State Department
April 20 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Have you ever wondered what it’s like to be the face of the United States in a gathering of 197 countries trying to negotiate the fate of the planet? Or imagined what it’s like to co-chair negotiations that some have called the most complex ever undertaken?
On April 20, former State Department Deputy Assistant Secretary for Environment Daniel Reifsnyder will tell us. He joins us virtually as the Biden Administration enters the countdown to the president’s long-awaited global-summit, and the United States seeks to regain an international leadership role on the climate issue.
Reifsnyder co-chaired the 2015 UN climate negotiations that led to the Paris Agreement, which was signed April 22, 2015. He spent over thirty years at the Department of State, working on climate issues since 1989. For ten years before that he worked at the Department of Commerce, where he was deeply involved in multiple fisheries negotiations.
