Kim Sajet, the recently appointed Donna and Donald Baumgartner director of the Milwaukee Art Museum will discuss how many of the world’s most flourishing cities are placing art, design, and creativity at the center of how they reimagine the ways people live, work, and play. From adaptive reuse of overlooked spaces to artist-led placemaking and cultural investment, creativity is increasingly understood not as a luxury, but as essential civic infrastructure—fueling economic vitality, social connection, and innovation.

Drawing on global examples—and placing them in the context of Milwaukee’s ambitions to be one of America’s leading cities for innovation and investment--Sajet will show how the art museum in partnership with artists and the creative economy can contribute measurable economic impact while also strengthening community identity and belonging.
