Prescribed Burn at the Rotary Arboretum

On Friday, May 6th there was a prescribed burn at the Milwaukee Rotary Centennial Arboretum on Friday. Prescribed or controlled burning is a practice to reduce the risk of wildland fire, improve wildlife habitat and riparian zones, control noxious weeds and improve watershed quality. Common on the prairie, we don’t often see a controlled burn in an urban area—but this is quite consistent with the native habitat of the Arboretum. Below are pictures from the prescribed burn.
