By Jennifer Hays, President of Rotaract
It’s been a busy year for Rotaract! As a club, we volunteered nearly 200 hours with local nonprofits. We provided monthly professional development opportunities for our members and launched a Rotary/Rotaract mentoring program. Thanks to the support of the Rotary’s A.D. Robertson Fund, we sent five of our members to the United Nations for an unforgettable experience at Rotary Day at the UN.
A major highlight of the year was our international service project in Guatemala. In March Jessica Boling and I accompanied the Rotary group visiting Nebaj, Guatemala. Rotaract donated funds to build a hand washing station to go with Rotary’s donation of latrines at a rural school near Nebaj.
Ran Hoth has been our Rotarian Advisor since Rotaract Milwaukee was founded in 2008. We’d like to thank Ran for all his support and friendship over the years! Janine Kolbeck is taking over as our Rotarian Advisor. Janine is a former Rotaract president and will serve as an excellent liaison between the two clubs!
The Rotary Club of Milwaukee has been an important partner in Rotaract’s success. We appreciate the efforts of all the Rotarians who have generously donated their time and talents to support Rotaract. We look forward to building on this partnership in years to come!
How can Rotarians help Rotaract? We are always looking for new speakers, mentors and community service opportunities. You can also help spread the word about Rotaract by recommending us to your young professional colleagues. Joining Rotaract is a great way for them to develop leadership skills and get more involved in the community. If you’d like more information about Rotaract, please email email@example.com.
