October 2015 Newsletter
By Dan Nelson, Maritime Committee Chair
RCM’s eighth LIVE @ the Lakefront season concluded on September 2nd after an amazing 9-week run, featuring some of the best original artists from across the musical spectrum, including Reggae, Cajun, Americana, Salsa, Folk, Blue Grass, and good ‘ol Rock & Roll. While there were a few chilly nights with breezes off the lake, it was the first year that all concerts were held outdoors in our Rotary Amphitheater at Discovery World and none were brought into the sponsor’s tent due to inclement weather. That alone made it a breakthrough season!
While not all performance metrics are in as of press time, the 2015 season was another incredibly successful year for our highly acclaimed concert series. Average attendance was more than 850 people, among the highest ever, despite having four of nine evenings without corporate sponsors holding events in the tent. Special thanks to those RCM members and their companies who did sponsor evenings and held corporate events, including Jim Kerlin, Executive Director of Wiscraft/Beyond Vision (7/29), Leslie Hauser, Tax Managing Director at KPMG (8/19), Joe Goode and Mark Leitner, both new RCM members (!) and Partners at the law firm Pia Anderson Dorius Reynard & Moss (8/26), and Dan Nelson, Jr., President & CEO of Nelson Schmidt Inc. (9/2) and Chairman of RCM’s Maritime Committee, which produces LIVE @ the Lakefront for your club.
Any members interested in exploring how LIVE @ the Lakefront could be an opportunity for their companies or organizations to host incomparable customer and/or employee appreciation events in 2016 are encouraged to contact the Rotary office for more information.
